wedds last day with the estes.

we are all so sad to see him go but happy to see him soon.

he basically spent the day with cory sleeping in until 12:00- ate- & played video games. he also learned to play drums. which is pretty good at.

here are some pictures that cory took.

they are escorpion- which i mentioned in my previous post. yum

when i got home from work i walked into a jam session they had going on. wedds was on point with those drums. i wish i would have had time to video it. we met up with ronda & some friends for dinner to drop him off since she is taking him to the airport on thursday.

of course on the way he slept

he is the cutest.

we all ate at gumbeaux's which i also wrote about yesterday. that place is so good, however last night it took them forever to seat us & took forever to get us our food. it was their shrimp night- 50 cents a shrimp. you can get 10 for $5. so of course it is going to be busy. i love that place though & the people we met up with.

all in all we all had such a fantastic time having him here. we are so thankful that we got to spend time with him & so many people that love wedds was able to take him to do such fun things. i am sure he made lasting memories, but i know he misses haiti , his family & friends.

ronda will be writing about his trip to the zoo soon, be sure to follow her blog to see the post! i will link over to it once shes posts it.

if you would ever like to donate to one of our mission trips to haiti feel free to email me. if my husband would give the "ok" i would live there part time! i am a little jealous that he is going back & i am not going with him.

birthday party part 1.

saturday night my mom opened up her home to some of my friends and made an amazing meal to celebrate wedds 12th bday. she made red beans, rice & grilled chicken. she made a chocolate cake & cookies too. so sweet & we are all so thankful.

here are some pictures.

i have always wanted that service sign at my moms

katrina, zeke, & katrinas sister Margarita (i probably misspelled that)

laughter is good for the soul.

wedds loves jeremy.

ronda loves them cookies.

sorry for the short post. i am exhausted. after wedds party (10:30 pm) we drove all the way to north carolina. 3 hours. we arrived at like 1:30 in the morning. cory lead worship the last day for a youth conference. needless to say i am beat.

hope you all had a fantastic weekend. i will post part 2 later.

going blonde.

my hair is naturally black & i have done just about every color except for blonde.

for example. one time my hair was half blonde & the other side was black.

one time i had a purple color running through it.

then i did some orange.

i had a blondish ombre

then that grew out into this.

then it went to this.

i also had this way back.

& this.

now it is this.

so. i have never done all the way blonde & i am going to take the plunge!

here are my options. what do you guys think?

it is a BIG change, but i think it will be fun. you can always change it back right?

what are some hairstyles you have taken a plunge to do?

eeeek. now to make an appointment.

cheers,

mrs. estes

soba, east atlanta.

2 words. very good.

i met cory & his friend tony last night for some Pho from soba. if you look at their menu i got the #12 & it was so good. so many flavors & the smell was on the side of heavenly. this was actually my first time ordering pho. i had tried some of the broth from noodle & my sister made us some one time, but as far as paying for my own bowl, first timer.

first of all the serving size was massive. i got the medium, but i probably should have ordered the small. on the bright-side i have lunch today. the smell of this dish was incredible. we got an order of spring rolls #3  & they were amazing, the sauce on the side was so good & i have no earthly idea what was in it. i will def. be going back. if you are ever in the east atlanta area you should try this place out!

seriously the camera does not do this meal justice.

cheers,

my relationship with atlanta.

i have lived in atlanta for about 1 1/2 now. my husband & i run a mission house for a church in midtown. i am a country girl at heart & love the idea of having land and working that land. i read all these blogs about homesteading & follow so many people on instagram & i tend to daydream through their pictures. i dream of a little house, really open with land, some chickens & pigs, you know all of the "good" stuff. i am pretty sure i wrote about a lot of my feelings in this post here

living in atlanta does have it's advantages. i live 2 blocks from starbucks, cvs, & so many more places to eat. if you know anything about cory & i we love food. we love to make food, try new places, stare at food, watch food shows, well you get the point. we are close to parks & we have everything at our disposal, but it's not home. our hearts are not here.

i have been working on my patience (which is what sunday morning church was about) with where the lord wants us next. i know what we want, & where we want to be, right? what does god wants & where does he want us to be?

when i think about all of this i am reminded of this song by crowder.

                                                               "Here's My Heart"

Here's my heart, Lord [x3]
Speak what is true

I am found, I am Yours
I am loved, I'm made pure
I have life, I can breathe
I am healed, I am free

Here's my heart, Lord [x3]
Speak what is true

I am found, I am Yours
I am loved, I'm made pure
I have life, I can breathe
I am healed, I am free

You are strong, You are sure
You are life, You endure
You are good, always true
You are light breaking through

Here's my heart, Lord [x3]
Speak what is true

Here's my life, Lord [x3]
Speak what is true [x3]

I am found, I am Yours
I am loved, I'm made pure
I have life, I can breathe
I am healed, I am free

You are strong, You are sure
You are life, You endure
You are good, always true
You are light breaking through

You are more than enough
You are here, You are love
You are hope, You are grace
You're all I have, You're everything

Here's my heart, Lord [x3]
Speak what is true

Here's my life, Lord [x3]
Speak what is true [x3]

these words are speaking so much truth during this season of my life. i want the lord to have my heart & i want him to speak truth to me. the bigger question is am i ready to hear it? do i even want to know what the lords plans are for my life? what if they are so far away from my own dreams? my prayer is lord help my desires be after your own heart. i truly want that for my life.

atlanta is so big. there are so many amazing people here, so many cool things to do here, but i am a little homesick for fresh air. for running into familiar faces at the local breakfast joint. for what i call the "good stuff".

with wedds being here i am reminded of all the cool things to do in the city. coca cola factory, the aquarium, cool places to eat, white water, & i can go on & on. wedds is having a really fun time doing all these things, but you want to know what he said when we asked him what he was most excited about. he said "seeing zeke". literally my heart melted. it also spoke so much to me. so simple. he would completely content hanging at the house with his little brother. you should really see them together. they are so cute. i will have to take some videos while he is here.

my relationship with atlanta is a little rocky. it is a love/hate relationship for sure. i like the convenience of atlanta, but everything else not so much. i am hoping in the distant future i will love atlanta more when i am not right in the middle of it.

anyone else out there struggle with patience? waiting on the lord for your next step?

i would like to think there is a light during the tunnel and not just at the end.

cheers,

mrs. estes

weekend recap.

whew. i am sitting at my desk right now about to pass out. sleep was not good to me last night. wedds spent a few days with us which i was thankful for. he is so sweet & i am just so happy he is here.

friday he went to whitewater with sarah & the youth group that was staying at the mission house we run in atlanta. he had so much fun & met some new friends. when he got back we went shopping at old navy. he wanted to pick his family out some gifts & we decided to get him a few cute things of his own.

we all slept in on saturday. literally until 12:00. it was nice to not have anywhere to be.

cory got up and went on a little trip to krispy kreme.

& i made a press.

thank you sweet husband. your the best. when wedds finally woke up and saw cory, he said "man you look nice", it was so sweet.

we goofed off watching so much stuff on tv. we watched UFC, afv, & we finished karate kid 2. that kid loves karate kid. he announced that he was hungry so we took a trip to popeyes for some chicken.

seriously, he is the cutest.

cory had some stuff to take care of so i packed a bag & got wedds things ready so we could head to carrollton as soon as he was done. while we were eating our lunch we started talking about wing eating contest & he decided he could win one. so we set up one for that night between cory, nick & wedds. hahahah! you guys, if you even knew how big these dudes are. poor wedds, he is so brave.
we head to carrollton so wedds can win $20 eating wings, stop by sonic and get some ice cream and slushies. mm. ocean water is all i have to say.

so. here are some pictures of the competition. the one i took of cory chowing down was blurry & i was sad bc it was awesome.

wedds did not win, BUT it was so fun & he ate those wings so fast.
cory was #1
nick was #2
wedds was #3

good game you guys.

cheers,

mrs. estes
